About the event

The NSW Ombudsman is excited to be partnering again with the NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption (NSW ICAC) and the Institute of Public Administration Australia NSW (IPAA NSW) to host the 14th National Investigations Symposium (14 NIS) in May 2025, in Sydney.

Over two days, more than 50 international and Australian practitioners and experts will deliver presentations on a wide range of topics highlighting innovative complaint-handling and investigative practice.

The 14 NIS program will include plenary and break-out sessions, and a preceding day of interactive workshops open to delegates and non-delegates.

About the NIS

The aim of the NIS is to enhance the skills and knowledge of delegates to develop better approaches to complaint handling and investigative practice. The symposium is regarded as the primary professional development and networking event for public officials undertaking investigations. In previous years, it has attracted over 550 Australian and international delegates from the public, non-government, academic and legal sectors.
