Under section 6A of the Public Interest Disclosures Act 1994 the Ombudsman as chairperson of the Steering Committee is required to prepare a report of the Committee's activities and any recommendations made to the Premier annually.

Controlled operations are undercover law enforcement operations where the participants have prior authority to technically break the law in order to investigate and deter crime and corrupt conduct.
Reports to Parliament
Terrorism (Police Powers) Act 2002 gives special powers to police and other agencies to deal with suspected terrorist acts. The Act requires that the Ombudsman keeps under scrutiny the exercise of preventative detention and covert search warrant powers and report to Parliament every three years.
